Description
This book gives a wonderful insight into what it is like to play in the Ashes, it has 12 chapters of first-person accounts which are fascinating and often amusing. It is split between England and Australia with 6 chapters from each: starting with Neil Harvey talking about playing alongside Don Bradman on the Invincibles tour of 1948 to England's dramatic recapturing of the Ashes in 2005.
Personally, my favourite chapters were Geoff Boycott's account of his comeback hundred - told in true Boycott style. Then there's Ashley Giles talking about how he transformed his reputation in 2005, hitting the winning runs at Trent Bridge and batting alongside Kevin Pietersen, on that brilliant afternoon at the Oval. And Justin Langer's account gives a true feeling of what it is like to make a double century.
The book is easy to read and I would definitely recommend it for cricket fans, no matter who you support.
